Audio Decoders are used when playing and sometimes used when time stamping and burning-in supported video files. The Audio Decoders options allow you to see a list of suitable audio decoders that are already installed on your PC, and lets you select the decoders that you want DVMP Pro to use. When DVMP Pro is first installed it attempts to automatically select the decoders that it will use by default, so you may never need to change these. If you want to experiment with other decoders you can change them here, but be aware that some may not work well with DVMP Pro!
If for some reason DVMP Pro is not able to automatically select a decoder then it will be shown as "Not selected", and an error message will appear when you try to play a file that requires that particular decoder, until you manually select the decoder.
Audio Decoders
Selecting an AC-3 Audio Decoder
This allows you to select the audio decoder that is used to play AVCHD, MPEG-2 PS, MOV and MP4 files which contain audio in AC-3 format. If the name of the currently selected decoder appears as "Not selected" then you must select a decoder before files that contain audio in AC-3 format can be played or burned-in.
When you first run DVMP Pro it will check to see if a recommended AC-3 audio decoder is already installed on you PC - if so, it is automatically selected and saved, so you do not need to select it yourself.
If you click the Audio Decoder's Select button, a dialog box appears which presents you with a list of AC-3 audio decoders that are currently installed on your PC.
As described earlier in the Video Decoders section, you can also click the Properties button for some decoders and change their internal settings.
WARNING: Some of the decoder properties may prevent DVMP Pro from working correctly. Do not make changes to decoder properties unless you are confident that you know what you are doing. Be sure to make a note of the existing property settings before you attempt to change any of them. For more details see the Video Decoders section. |
Select the required AC-3 audio decoder from the list and click OK.
Selecting an AAC Audio Decoder
